The two benefits of digital techniques as a designing tool in architecture

Introduction
Digital technology in architecture is nothing new. Architects have been applied digital technology as an assistive tool that would enhance the practice of architecture for decades. Drawing, creating diagram, modeling, performance simulation, construction management and building fabrication are now performed using computer based technology. There are two main reasons why using digital techniques as a designing tool in architecture are very important and should be focused on. First, by using digital technology, architects can be more productive and cost-effective. For instance in Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, he was able to eliminate time consuming labor in what? process by using Computer Aided Tech (CATIA), a software program….. Second, digital technology enables architects to have new ways of thinking that would not be possible otherwise. For instance, visualization tool such as MAYA (a 3D …program…developed by company A) and Rhino made it possible to create amorphoused building like boat terminal in Yokohama by Ben Van Berkel.
Economical Effect of using Digital Technology as Designing Tool
Body part: you need to start your main ideas for each paragraph.
There are three principle benefits of digital technology that…1) 2) 3). The first 1),….the second 2)… the 3)…
As an outstanding example that took advantage of using technology…is Frank.
Digitized information can be used to draw, engineer, and construct the building. It can be shared among difference process and easy to reform to be used in other software. This has shorten architect’s response time to the modification request of original design by clients using existing digitized data. According to Jean Nouvel in his interview with Jean Baudrillard (2003), There is anything easier than reusing existing data, given the fact that the computer can modify that data so quickly and the system is ready for a new building.
Frank Gehry’s work show how architect can improve efficiency using digital technology. According to Webb(2003), Frank Gehry has adopted CATIA(Computer-Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application) in Walt Disney Concert Hall project. Walt Disney Concert Hall is not only a landmark in downtown California but also a good example of computer based approach. CATIA (Computer-Aided Three-dimensional Interactive Application) is a computer program originally developed in France by the Dassault Systems aviation company to design Mirage Jet Fighters. By using CATIA, Gehry was able to create a building in unique style what Walt Disney Company want efficient way. Improving efficiency in architecture can be translated into how much architects can save their client’s money. In this sense, Walt Disney Concert Hall was a successful project.

Benefit by Broadening range of Thinking
Ben Van Berkel’s work show how digital technology expanded architect’s imagination and help them to develop concepts by new way of thinking. Digital technology enabled architects to draw shape in flux and to visualize virtual space with 3 dimensional model.
From Ben Van Berkel’s boat terminal in Yokohama, we can learn how he used and applied digital technology. Ben Van Berkel started with abstract diagram to design.
In every project, architects receive many feedbacks. Before digital tool was widely used in architecture field, architects had to redraw all plans, sections, and perspectives based on the new decision. They can now modify the data easily and apply changes quickly using digital tools.
Conclusion
In the beginning of your conclusion, you will summarize the text of your paper. Then you will discuss the implications, the importance, and the value of your finding.
Architects can reduce entire project cost, improve productivity and broaden the scope of thinking. Frank Gehry’s example clearly demonstrate how architects can improve efficiency in projects by using digital technology as a designing tool. Ben Van Berkel's boat terminal at Yokohama was a great example how digital technology removed the barrier of conventional design techniques. Architecture is not solely done by architect him or herself. It requires harmony of techniques and creativities. If it were not for digital technology, modern architecture has not been developed so fast.
